Mike Hyatt

Ph.D. - History Educator

Dr. Hyatt was a founding Educator, serving as the Department Chair of the History Department for five years. He retired at the end of the 2021-22 school year but soon realized how much he missed teaching.

Prior to Geffen Academy, he taught History in the African American Studies Departments at Harvard University and Wesleyan University before moving to New York and teaching high school History at the Dalton School for 24 years. He has published books and articles on African-American and American Intellectual History. Outside the classroom, he has completed 10 marathons.
